ART COMMITTEE:
The walls in Friendship Hall are decorated each month with the work of a different artist. Every medium is included from water colors to jewelry. Sales of these artworks benefit Unity and that month’s artist. If you would like to exhibit your work contact Marjorie Muro at Marjorie@npgcable.com or Kimberly Lewis at klsedona@npgcable.com.
CONCERT COMMITTEE:
This committee schedules and presents concerts at Unity of Sedona once a month. Musicians included in this series are nationally recognized, award winning caliber performers. They create a joyful celebration for everyone involved. If you are interested in being a part of this committee contact Marjorie Muro at Marjorie@npgcable.com or Michelle Grim at michelle@sedonarealestate.com
LANDSCAPE COMMITTEE:
The “Garden Gnomes” at Unity normally meet from 10-2 every third Saturday of the month. During the spring planting season this is being expanded to include the first Saturday as well. We are working/playing to bring the grounds at 65 Deer Trail into resonance with the sacred space we are creating inside the copper door of Unity of Sedona. Whether you are an experienced gardener, a novice wishing to learn, or just enjoy the exercise with others of like minds, we can use your help. Also, if you like the new look that is unfolding, you can contribute by donating money to purchase the trees, shrubs, flowers, benches, tables and materials we will be using. See Penny Genter (505-228-7087) for more information.
MOVIE COMMITTEE:
At least once a month, on a Friday evening, a spiritually uplifting film is screened for the public at Unity of Sedona. If you have a film to recommend or would be willing to operate the projector at these events please contact Marjorie Muro at Marjorie@npgcable.com or Kimberly Lewis at klsedona@npgcable.com.
OUTREACH COMMITTEE:
Verde Food Council Food for kids weekend backpack program.
“Squeezed by rising living costs, a record number of Americans, 1 in 2, have fallen into poverty or are scraping by on earnings that classify them as low income.”
StarNet News, by Hope Yen, posted December 15, 2011
As shocking as the above news may be, the reality is that, here in the Verde Valley, an average of 78% of our families qualify for the Free /Reduced School Lunch Programs. No matter how you do your math, that is more than 1 in 2!
The Weekend Backpacks Program provides a backpack full of food for the weekend to those children who qualify for free lunches at school during the week and do not have access to adequate healthy food at home. “It takes a village to raise a child” and it takes a community to feed a community. Lets pull together to insure that no child in our community goes hungry! You can support a child in this program for $8/week or $36/month. Contact Debra Emmanuelle for more information: 928-282-8738.
